Power and size questions

How do I know what PSU I need for a graphics card?

Add the card's board power, your CPU's power and about 75W for the rest of the PC, then add around 40% headroom. A 320W RTX 3080 with a 125W CPU needs roughly 520W, so a good 750W unit is the safe choice (and NVIDIA's own recommendation). Quality matters as much as watts: a well-known 80 Plus Gold unit is safer than a bigger no-name one.

How do I check if a graphics card fits my case?

Look up your case's maximum GPU length (in the manual or on the maker's site), then compare it with the exact card model's length, not just the chip. A triple-fan RTX 3080 can be 320mm or more, while the reference card is 285mm. Also check thickness: many big cards take 3 slots.

Do I need a 12VHPWR (16-pin) power supply for an RTX 40 or 50 series card?

No. Cards with the 16-pin socket come with an adapter that takes three or four 8-pin PCIe cables. A native 16-pin cable from an ATX 3.0/3.1 power supply is neater. Either way, push the plug fully home.
